What is LALAL.AI?
LALAL.AI is an AI vocal remover and stem splitter. It separates an existing song or video into clean stems — up to 10, including vocals, instrumental, drums, bass, guitars, piano, synth, strings and wind — without quality loss. It is not a music generator; it pulls apart audio you already have, and also cleans noise, echo and reverb.
Is LALAL.AI free?
There is a free starter pack with limited minutes and unlimited previews so you can judge quality. The honest catch: the free tier does not let you download full stems — that requires a paid plan. Subscriptions have monthly Fast-minute allowances, and unused Fast minutes do not roll over, with top-ups available.
How many stems can it extract?
Up to 10 stems — vocal, instrumental, drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizer, string instruments and wind instruments — which is among the highest available. You generate stems one at a time and can switch types without re-uploading the track.
Does it work on video too?
Yes. It supports both audio and video, including MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, AIFF, OGG and MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV. Extracted stems are exported in the original format by default, or you can choose another format before full processing.
What other tools does it include?
Beyond the Stem Splitter it includes Voice Cleaner (noise, plosives, rumble), Echo and Reverb Remover, Lead and Back vocal splitter, Voice Changer and Voice Cloner. It started as a single vocal remover in 2020 and grew into a full audio-processing suite.
How good is the separation quality?
It uses proprietary neural networks — Perseus, Orion, Phoenix, Cassiopeia and Rocknet — and you can try different networks on the same track to get the cleanest split. Quality is widely rated studio-grade, though results vary by source material; for example, lead and back vocal splitting works best on tracks with clearly defined vocal layers.
Where can I use it?
On the web, as desktop apps for Windows, macOS and Linux, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. There is also an API, a VST plugin for DAWs and an embeddable widget for websites. Your account works across multiple devices with a single login.
Can I use the separated audio legally?
You are legally responsible for what you upload. LALAL.AI recommends against uploading third-party intellectual property unless you have permission. Use it freely on your own recordings; for copyrighted material, make sure you have the rights before processing or publishing the result.
What are the honest limitations?
The free tier previews only and does not allow stem downloads, Fast minutes do not roll over, all plans have minute limits, and some plugins are still maturing. Separation quality can vary on complex material like duets or synthesized vocals, and you are responsible for the rights to anything you upload. It is excellent for clean separation, but plan minutes and confirm rights first.
